Another Trojan Hall of Famer

Good luck and Godspeed, Junior Seau.

They'll like you when you AREN'T running

John Kerry draws a nice crowd in South Carolina and Lee Bandy gets as excited as anyone can get in August in the Midlands. Kerry lost by 16 points last time, he won't care about the state the next time if he's the nominee. It'd be like George Allen campaigning in downtown San Francisco. I know this, you know this, and the American people know this. And Dick Harpootlian as usual has the best quote:

Nationally, Kerry came close to winning. He has said he would be in the White House today if 60,000 Ohioans had switched votes.
To which Harpootlian responded, “Yeah, if Napoleon had had B-52 bombers, we’d all be speaking French.”

No mo Joe?

If I were stupid enough to bet on politics, I'd bet Lieberman loses by a signifcant margin. Mystery Pollster does the usual great analysis.

Mel and me

It's pretty clear Mel Gibson is an anti-Semite at his core. Apologies are not going to be enough. I also don't find much appealing in his "traditional" brand of Catholicism. And I didn't see "Passion." Critics of the movie suggest that anti-Semite Mel was trying to make sure people believed Jews should be blamed for Jesus' death. So how come the most enthusiastic supporters of the movie, the evangelical Protesant churches, aren't echoing that theme? Or is it maybe that they viewed the movie as a reminder of the great pain Jesus suffered for us, and that the answer to "Who killed Jesus" is actually: I did.
