Linda Greenhouse, officially biased

The New York Times should be facing two choices after reading this account of a Linda Greenhouse speech at Harvard: preface every story she writes with acknowledgement of her bias, or send her to the op-ed pages where she belongs. The notion that major newspaper reporters don't tilt overwhelmingly left is really just silly, isn't it?

Good news for the McClellan women

Mark McClellan deserves way more credit than I can credibly give him, especially as a former spokesman. He leaves a high pressure post with even some begrudging credit from the most ideological of critics, a feat that isn't easy to accomplish in today's Washington. Dr. McClellan cares a great deal about how health care can get better. Not bigger, but better. The health care world has hardly heard the last of him, and I hope the next Administration is smart enough to ask for his views. Meanwhile, I hope he enjoys coming home for dinner with his two daughters and more time with his smart and equally talented wife, Stephanie.
