Big school bureaucracies

This column by Steve Lopez in the L.A. Times this morning should fully explain to anyone who wonders why voters view tax increases, even for education, with a strong degree of skepticism. Teachers making $17,000 a year have to beg to be fully paid, while the district shells out millions for consultants who haven't yet fixed the problem? Words fail.
